Sara Alvarado naturopathic doctor and midwifeDr. Sara Alvarado
Naturopathic Doctor and Licensed Midwife

Dr. Sara hails from the Rio Grande Valley of Texas. She wanted to be a health care provider as long as she can remember and most of what she did in her formative years was aimed at discovering what kind of practitioner and human she wanted to be. During college, she worked as a health educator and a labor organizer for a health care workers union. “My heart has always been in grassroots organizing and my college years were filled with this.”

After graduating from college, Dr. Sara spent a year working as a case manager with AmeriCorps for individuals experiencing homelessness in Austin, Texas and strategizing about how to best provide quality healthcare for families and increase access to such care. This led her to Naturopathic Medicine and Midwifery at Bastyr University.

Abigail Nelson Naturopathic PhysicianDr. Abigail Nelson
Naturopathic Doctor and Licensed Midwife

Dr. Abby was born in the Central Valley of California. During high school, her family relocated to an island off the coast of Vancouver BC, Canada. She graduated from the University of British Columbia with a Bachelor of Science in Life Sciences and Chemistry in 2010. Dr. Nelson earned her Doctor of Naturopathic Medicine degree at Bastyr University in 2015. The following year she completed her Master’s of Science in Midwifery.

Her interest in natural medicine and midwifery care started at a very young age. At three years old, she sat beside the midwife and watched her sister enter the world at their home in California. Her mom also taught childbirth classes throughout her childhood allowing her to grow up with learning all about birth and the human body. Her family also received medical care from an ND as she was growing up, exposing her to the interesting world of herbal tinctures, homeopathy, physical medicine, and other natural modalities.

Dr. Nelson’s passion is working with women and children. Her hope is to create relationships that continue from preconception through pregnancy, birth and postpartum, then with pediatric and general health care for baby and mom. She loves seeing a family grow and change through the miraculous process of bringing a new life into the world and all the challenges and joys afterward.
